We're so sorry...

We were looking to this year’s event more than ever before. We don’t want to cause any heartache for you or us by listing all the things we have been working on. We didn’t except this would happen, yet deep down inside we considered this possibility as festivals all across the globe in are being cancelled in 2020.

It will be hard for us to concentrate on the future, yet we must say that it’s no exaggeration to say that our team adores the STRAND Festival. That is precisely why we’ll get our act together in a few days and start thinking about how to structure the festival for 2021.
Let us take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to the organizers, friends, partners and sponsors of the STRAND Festival. This year, we are surrounded by uncertainty, which you obviously experienced in your own lives, work and school environment as well. It was hard to be continuously confronted with the question over the last six months: will there be a STRAND Festival at all? All our colleagues and friends have been working hard as if there could only be a single, positive answer to this question. Even so, we knew that things might work out differently, yet we couldn’t allow ourselves to concentrate on such a negative outcome.

Secondly, special thanks is due to the people You and us were looking forward to so eagerly: our artists, musicians and performers. Words fail to describe how eager we are to get together in the sunset or jump up and down together in front of the backdrop of Lake Balaton with our favorite performers on stage, singing together with us. In the name of our crowds, we wish you perseverance and strength as well as lots and lots of love. It’s important for you to know how much you and your songs mean to us and how important you are.

Last, but not least, we must also thank You, the visitors of STRAND Festival. Over the last seven years, the audiences attending STRAND Festival have continued to grow. In fact, before the appearance of the virus, we knew that this year would be a recording-breaking event as more people than ever before purchased tickets or passes for the event. Yet after the lock-downs and the “stay at home” period, the 18th of August became the most important day of the year, which we were looking forward to more than ever. We have the feeling that You feel the same way as we do. As festival organizers, it’s a rare thing to feel the way we do this year, that we dearly miss our crowds. We imagined time and time again what it would be like for you to rush into the site after standing in line, setting up your tents and the first concert getting underway, singing the lines together: “If tomorrow is our final day, this will stay with us forever, you brought us good times, our dear friend…" It reminds us what it’s like to be homesick, finally returning after a year and holding close those who are dear to you. Yet perhaps there’s no need to discuss this in more detail as You feel the same way we do.

It’s just as hard for us, yet we still have to ask you to be patient over the months to come. We’ll be here and work as hard as we can to make sure that the experiences to come will be just as joyful as the moments we shared together in the past.

Take care of yourselves and your loved ones!

Naturally, we would be greatly pleased and it would be a huge help for us if you would choose to redeem this year’s tickets for the 2021 STRAND Festival event, yet you are not obliged to do so, all tickets can be reimbursed. Stay tuned – more details are coming soon!
Thank you!
